Weddings – Harmonious Ceremonies

First of all, congratulations on your engagement, and the great fortune of having met that special someone to share your life with.
It is always a joy to meet couples, hear their stories, hopes, and dreams for the future. Your wedding day should be a celebration of who you are, in the style that you wish.
Together, we have the freedom to create a wedding that can be flamboyant, and full of laughter, or more intimate and romantic, but always heartfelt and loving.
It is such an enjoyable and exciting process, from our first meeting, talking about your initial ideas, which evolve, and gain shape. We can incorporate so many elements, from poems, music, guest speakers, symbolic gestures such as handfasting, wineblending, ring warming, and even tea making (with biscuit dunking vows no less). The latter one was an absolute joy, with everyone laughing and smiling, whilst also deeply loving.

I can help you create your own vows and pledges, which you can write together, or separately if your want them to be a secret until the big day.
From the first time we meet, to the ceremony on the day, I will provide guidance and support to ensure you are relaxed, and free to enjoy every moment.

So what does a typical wedding ceremony involve?

The simple answer is – anything you want! To give you an idea, just one example of a ceremony, lasting around 30 minutes, could be as below:

Welcome and introduction
The wedding procession enters the ceremony area – usually to music you have chosen
Thoughts on love and marriage
A reading or poem chosen by you, spoken by the celebrant, family member, or friend
Your love story, that I have written for you
A symbolic act, such as a handfasting, wine-blending, or something new!
You exchange vows, promises, and maybe personal words
The exchange of rings
We proclaim your marriage and ask your guests to voice their support
A poem, or reading by a guest
You sign your marriage certificate, a music is played
Closing words
The wedding party leaves to music, followed by their guests

This is just one example. It is YOUR wedding, so we can sculpt it into a ceremony that is unique to you. Think of it as a cake, where you can choose all your favourite ingredients. I am here to make it all happen.

Weddings by Harmonious Ceremonies

We start off by meeting to discuss your plans, and getting to know one another. It is an important event, and you should feel right about who you choose. There is no pressure to decide there and then. Once you are happy to proceed, you can pay a deposit to secure the date, and I will prepare a detailed script for you to review. We can edit it until you feel it is perfect.

My fee is £625, which includes:

Travel for meetings, and spending time with you planning your ceremony
Help and suggestions for your vows, readings, symbolic acts, music, and more
Contact with friends and family who may be contributing
Revisions of the script (I regard it as a ‘fluid’ document until we are happy with it)
Preparation of your marriage certificate
Travel for rehearsal (if desired), and on the important day itself
My full and exclusive attention on the special day
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance
Alternative Humanist Celebrant in the unlikely case of emergency
A printed (and digital) presentation copy of your wedding day ceremony script
